Staying at Ko Ko Mo on Gili Trawangan, Bali

I believe in full transparency, always. This post may contain affiliate links, read more here!

We'll get there fast, and then we'll take it slow
That's where we want to go, way down in Ko Ko Mo

Tucked just off the main strip of Gili Trawangan you'll find the luxurious private villas of Ko Ko Mo. We had started our stay on Gili T at Gili Villa Bali Beach, which is on the opposite side of the island away from the hustle and bustle of the main strip. I was a little concerned that, as Ko Ko Mo is so close to the main area, it would be really noisy. But even in our private garden, the noise was minimal.  It is one of the more expensive accommodation options on Gili T. I did feel that is was possibly slightly overpriced, although that may be as we had just come from a really great deal at what turned out to be our favourite hotel on Gili T!

The Villa

Every room at KoKoMo is your very own private villa, each with a private pool.  We stayed at the Villa Emas, a one bedroom villa with a small plunge pool. The plunge pool is surrounded by beautiful greenery and flowers. You'll feel like you’re in your own little tropical paradise.  The pool was the perfect temperature to cool off in after exploring the island. There is a small patio, and a giant sunbed as well.

The room itself wasn’t too exciting, it felt a bit bare and somewhat dated. However, they have since begun renovations and I imagine the upgrades will bring the villas back up to the Ko Ko Mo too notch standard! The bathroom has an outdoor feel, however, it is mostly enclosed with a small open skylight, so you get that outside bathroom feel without being exposed to the elements.

I believe the two and three bedroom villas are where Ko Ko Mo really shines. The pools are much larger and there are plenty of places to relax in the Villa and its garden. It's the perfect spot for a group getaway.

The Food

We didn’t eat in the hotel much, however, our room included breakfast, there were plenty of options and they brought pastries and fresh fruit along with your option.  You could either eat in your villa or in their outdoor restaurant overlooking the water. I love the ease of having everything delivered, your private garden is the perfect secluded spot to enjoy your breakfast while you catch some rays.

We only had one main meal in the hotel, the restaurant is in a gorgeous setting, overlooking the sea. The food was fine, not exceptional but then I only had a simple sandwich and chips! They offer a range of options that include both Western and Balinese cuisines, so you'll find something for everyone!

The Facilities

We weren't looking to do a huge amount while we stayed at Ko Ko Mo, we were simply there to relax and unwind. Ko Ko Mo does offer a range of activities including fishing trips and watersports. They have their own fleet of speedboats, fishing boats, and traditional outriggers. We booked our snorkeling trip through one of the many stalls that line the strip. Our trip was great, so if you want to save money, you may find it's cheaper to organise it yourself!

Overall

Overall, we would definitely recommend Ko Ko Mo, for those of you who want a private getaway. If you're going in a group, I highly recommend one of the two or three bedroom villas.  The staff at Ko Ko Mo, much like the majority of Bali, are absolutely fantastic. They're always willing to go above and beyond to make sure you're happy.
