The Amara Bangkok is the perfect hotel for a weekend in Bangkok

If you’re looking for affordable luxury, the Amara Bangkok is the place to be. Located in the heart of the city centre, near hundreds of shops, restaurants, night markets and temples. The Amara Bangkok is the perfect location for a weekend in Bangkok. You’ll be able to easily visit the highlights of Bangkok by hopping on the BTS Skytrain which is only a short walk from the hotel. THE ROOMS

The rooms at the Amara have an effortless luxury. The minimalistic design give way to the highlight of the room; the view. The rooms have floor to ceiling windows, allowing you to admire the hustling city below. My favourite spot was without a doubt from the bath. I'm not ashamed to say I had two baths a day. The city is particularly beautiful when the sky lights up a gorgeous purple as the sun sets.

The rooms are offer plenty of storage and spacious bathrooms. They also have multiway plugs which is super useful if you’ve forgotten your adaptor. And most importantly, the beds are ridiculous comfy.

I stayed in a club room. And I seriously suggest you do the same. Just be sure to request a corner room, because who doesn’t want this view from their bathtub!? With the Clubroom you also get breakfast, drinks and nibbles in the Club Lounge, late checkout as well as a load of other great benefits!

THE FOOD

There is one main restaurant in the hotel; Element. Their Thai Passion menu is to die for. Now, I know when you’re in Thailand, it’s easy to find cheap amazing food at every turn. The street food and local restaurants can be absolutely amazing. Which is why I tend to avoid hotel restaurants, as although they’re delicious, they’re usually quite pricey. However, Element is super affordable, and the food is amazing. Make sure you try the pineapple fried rice. Not only is it served in an actual pineapple - bonus points for being super instagrammable, it’s so yummy.
For when you’re all Thai’d out - Element also offers a number of western meals, as well as their signature Singaporean dishes. Whilst I definitely think the Thai dishes are it’s standout, everything else is pretty great too! The staff are so sweet and super attentive. My only slightly negative comment was the restaurant lacked a bit of atmosphere, because it was quite quiet, there was only a few tables occupied. But hopefully more people will realise how great the restaurant is and it will get more popular.
You also have the option at eating at the pool lounge, which I found was perfect for lunch or nibbles. They also have happy hour with loads of cocktails at 50% off. Definitely make sure you’re up there enjoying a cocktail as the sunsets over the pool!
Breakfast can either be served in the Element restaurant or the Club Lounge. The selection is definitely better in the element restaurant, but the views in the Club Lounge are awesome. Additionally, the Amara has recently launched their all day breakfast menu, which can be served anywhere you like, at any time. But of course, I’m a breakfast in bed kinda girl. Everything on the menu looks fantastic, but I highly recommend the waffles & french toast. Although if you’re more of a savoury person the Eggs Benedict is great too!
In the rooms the minibar isn’t overly full, just a handful of drinks. Instead - the Amara Bangkok has a mini bar convenience store in the main lobby. I’m sure you’re expecting overpriced minibar items as in the majority of hotels. Not at the Amara. You can fill your minibar with things you actually want at convenience store prices!

THE FACILITIES

The main highlight of the hotel is the rooftop infinity pool that overlooks the city. At sunset it does get pretty busy up there, so I’d recommend securing your spot earlier in the day if you want a bed. Or you can admire the view from the pool! The pool is the perfect Instagram spot. The contrast between the energetic city below and the quiet tranquility as you admire the view from above feels almost unreal. The pool is open from 6am - 8pm, and is the perfect temperate to cool off after a busy day sightseeing.
The Amara also has a well equipped gym that overlooks the city. The gym is open 24 hours a day, so all you gym bunnies can stay active during your stay.
If you’re on a short trip, or you simply prefer to have everything organised for you, the Amara Bangkok also offers a number of excursions to help you make the most of your stay.

OVERALL

When visiting Bangkok there are a few key things to look for in a hotel: location, comfort and affordability. The Amara ticks all of those boxes. There’s so much to do in Bangkok, you’re unlikely to spend the whole day in the hotel. But, it’s definitely nice to have a luxurious spot to escape to after a busy day in the city. The Amara Bangkok offers exactly that.
