Villa Gili Bali Beach is a sunset lover's paradise
It's the perfect mix of luxury and relaxation.
Villa Gili Bali Beach was our favourite place when we visited Gili Trawangan. Villa Gili Bali Beach is a large 5 bedroom private villa that can be rented out exclusively or by the room. It's the perfect mix of luxury coupled with a relaxed friendly atmosphere to make you feel at home. The owners, Coco and Alain don't live on Gili Trawangan, so they aren't always at the villa. But their staff are fantastic, so you'll be in good hands. Coco greeted us and was absolutely lovely and very chatty, it was like talking to an old friend.
We chose the Villa Gili Bali Beach partly because of its location. It’s on the opposite side of the island to the main strip which means it’s very quiet and not very busy. The hotel offers bikes so you can easily pop into the centre, or you could walk, it’s not very far! You will, however, need to use one of the horse taxis to reach the hotel from your boat transfer if you have luggage, as there are no cars on the island.
The Rooms
There are only five rooms at Villa Gili Bali Beach, which makes it the perfect place to rent out as a group. It can sleep up to 13 guests, all the rooms have a large double bed, and some also have a single bed. As there were only two of us, we stayed in one of the beachfront bungalow rooms. The rooms have the perfect beachside feel to them. The rooms are bright and white with a fun splash of turquoise, adorned with shells.
In the beach-front bungalow rooms, the entire room's walls are made up entirely of windows that overlook the beach and pool. So, you can admire the gorgeous surroundings from your bed, but be sure to shut your curtains if you're getting undressed! The shower and toilet are outside but don't worry it's enclosed and private. The sink is in the main bedroom, which I often find a little strange, however, I feel it's very tastefully done at Villa Gili Bali Beach. The beach-front bungalows don't have a bath, whereas the sea view and sunset suites do.
All of the rooms are beautiful, the two beachfront bungalow rooms are separated from the main building. Although the bungalows are the smaller two of the rooms, they are plenty spacious. Downstairs in the main building, you will find the two sea view suites that have a separate spacious bathroom as well as a terrace. You will also find the mezzanine area of the hotel, where you can enjoy breakfast, cakes, and coffee or use the shared lounge. Upstairs you'll find the main bedroom. The large sunset suite overlooks the pool and has ocean views that stretch for miles. The sunset room also has a large terrace.
The Pool
The pool at Villa Gili Bali Beach is beautiful. Many people often stop to photograph the property as they stroll by. Even if the villa is fully booked, the pool has plenty of loungers so you won't struggle to find a spot to relax in. The pool also has shallow shelves around the edge with are perfect for sunbathing on while keeping cool in the water. The area surrounding the pool can get a little slippy, so be sure to be mindful, particularly if you have kids with you. The pool water is slightly salty a natural chlorination which is gentle so you shouldn't experience any stinging eyes!
The highlight of the pool is at sunset. The views are beautiful, particularly as Villa Gili Bali Beach has their own private beach so the views are uninterrupted. Enjoy a drink as the golden sunset reflects over the pool, and you'll be blown away.
The Facilities
Villa Gili Bali Beach is happy to organise a number of activities during your stay including snorkeling, boat trips, massages, and bikes. Most activities do come at an additional fee. Most of our activities on Gili Trawangan we organised ourselves. We found in Gili Trawangan it's really easy just to go down to the strip and book things for yourself, which is usually cheaper.
We did treat ourselves to a massage at Villa Gili Bali Beach. The massage was great, although more expensive than you would usually find a massage in Bali, which is to be expected at a more luxurious hotel. We were able to have our massage either in our room or in one of the sofa cabanas on Villa Gili Bali Beach's private beach. Of course, we went for the beach and admired the sunset as we relaxed. In contrast to a lot of the beaches on Gili Trawangan which often have a lot of litter, Villa Gili Bali Beach does a fantastic job at keeping their beach pristine.They have plenty of loungers and beach cabanas for you to relax in.
The Food
We didn't eat much in the hotel, except for breakfast. For us, we wanted to make sure we explored the island, trying out as many restaurants as we could. Breakfast is ordered the night before and is plentiful with fresh fruits, eggs, omelets and their famous banana pancakes - which were fantastic. They also offer a la carte lunch and dinner options, although it's important to note the kitchen isn't open 24/7. The menu was fairly small, and nothing too fancy, however, it's perfect for a fresh simple tasty bite to eat.
Overall
Villa Gili Bali Beach is a fantastic place to stay on Gili Trawangan. We loved every minute of our stay, we actually ended up wanted to stay an additional few days, but it was fully booked, so we headed to Ko Ko Mo.
The staff feel like a close-knit family and are always willing to go above and beyond during your stay. If you have read any of the reviews on Villa Gili Bali Beach, you've almost definitely heard of Rudy. Rudy is the villa manager who is an absolute star. He is also the man who will cook you the delicious banana pancakes. If you need anything, Rudy will sort you out.
Villa Gili Bali Beach boasts a friendly atmosphere. If you're after a typical hotel feel, this villa is perhaps not for you. It feels much more relaxed, yet still maintains that luxury that you're after. I'd highly recommend staying at Villa Gili Bali Beach while you visit Gili Trawangan. After all, it's the perfect place for solo travellers, couples, and groups to unwind.
